The mad plan
Hi. So much to tell, so little time. (I *said* I wasn't much of a diarist...)
After I got done saying "Nobody in this area wants anyone with my skills" back in January, I was hired to a three-month contract as a technical editor with Westinghouse Corporation's Nuclear Systems Engineering group, cleaning up documentation for their new AP1000 reactor. The AP1000 is selling so very well that Westinghouse is growing fast, and the work has been very interesting (and lucrative); thus, I'm hoping to be hired on full time or at least extended, but I haven't heard anything yet.
Having medical coverage again meant I could restart my health care, so I'm back on Lipitor and I have a shiny, tiny, quiet new CPAP machine. No more chainsaw snoring!
Lots of drama with my car...bits breaking down, lots of time in the shop. But I don't want to trade it in and start up another car payment until I'm sure I'll have a job for a few months.
Accordingly, rather than drive it up to FilKONtario, I'm renting a car for the weekend. And it's gonna be a long haul, because I discovered a little too late that my birth certificate from the hospital is of the "strictly unofficial heirloom" variety, so I have to pick up the car at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning, drive down to the county clerk's office in Morgantown, WV, then turn around and head up to Toronto. I *hope* to make it in time for the wedding; if not, all my super-best to you, Tom and Sue!!
Must close. See many of you at FKO, I hope!
